LATITUDE BURGER: NOM NOM NOM

I have always loved a really good burger. There is a place in the city called Latitude that sells their "Latitude Burger"  ($11) . I actually really loved this burger. It was served with avocado, bacon, and pepper jack cheese. YUM! I can't stand when I get a burger and it is super tiny. If I'm going to eat a burger I want it to get me full enough where all I want to do after is sleep! This burger did JUST that. : )

FRIED OREOS

Anyone who knows me knows that I am an Oreo fanatic! Since childhood it has been my favorite snack food to eat. I have heard about fried Oreos but was never really eager to try one. I'm already very particular about how I eat my Oreos. I don't eat the double stuffed ones or the ones that come out around Halloween time with the orange cream in the middle. YUCK! Certain things in life just shouldn't be tampered with and that's how I feel about my Oreos! I did hear that fried Oreos are very yummy so I did a little googling and found a spot in Brooklyn called ChipShop. This place not only sells fried Oreos but they also sell fried Snickers, Twix and Reeses Peanut Butter cups. *Wipes drool from lip* I plan on checking this spot out VERY soon and doing a review. Stay tuned!

TSAMPA: NOM

This week I decided to check out a Tibetan restaurant called Tsampa that a friend of mine suggested. I never had Tibetan and figure I give it a try.

For an appetizer we shared the Shiitake pancakes ($5)  that came with peanut sauce. Ok... I hated this. lol The pancake was bland and the peanut sauce was nasty.

Next for an entree I had the Tibetan curry ($9.95).  Siiiigh this was the blandest tasting curry I think I have ever tasted. I believe the exact words I said out loud were "This taste like air".  Curry chicken is suppose to be flavorful and this was NOT.

My friend had the Tse Thuk Khatsa ($9.95) which was spicy noodles with yellow green zucchini, collard greens, kale and shrimp. My friend enjoyed her meal. I didn't try it so I can't really cosign.

Overall I will give this place one NOM. Maybe I need to try a different dish but I doubt I will be going back! lol The reviews on Yelp were pretty good and my friend who suggested it raved about the food. If anyone knows of a really yummy Tibetan spot in NYC please feel free to let me know!

PENANG: NOM NOM NOM NOM

Last week I went to Penang for Malaysian cuisine.  I actually forgot that my family and I went to the Penang downtown a few years ago for my sister's graduation dinner. They closed the one downtown but the one in the Upper Westside is still open.  They have happy hour at the bar everyday of the week from 5pm to 7pm.

I really enjoyed the food here. I had the Roti Canai ($5) which was soooo amazing. They call it their "Award Winning Family Recipe." Anyone who doesn't know what Roti Canai is it is basically a crispy Indian Style pancake that you dip into curry chicken sauce. SO YUMMY!

For my entree I had the Basil Chicken ($13). I pretty much love anything with the word "Basil" in front of it. Haha. To me it  just makes food extra delicious!

I WOULD GIVE PENANG 4/4 NOMS. GREAT SERVICE AND GREAT FOOD. I'M GOING BACK IN A FEW WEEKS FOR MY SISTER'S LAW SCHOOL GRADUATION DINNER : )

LANI KAI: NOM NOM NOM

Over the weekend I went to Lani Kai a great Hawaiian spot on Broome Street.  Everything we ate was delicious and we had really great service. The waitress even got down and fixed the screw in  our wobbly table. My friend got a free glass of wine because she forgot his second glass. Free alcohol is always good right? : )

We ordered a bunch of different snacks from their menu. First up was their Lobster Roller ($9)  which was so yummy!

Next up was the Escabeche Tacos ($9). The wonton taco shells were filled with red Snapper, cabbage salad and sweet and sour pineapple sauce. These were very good as well.

.

The Duck potstickers ($8). Duck wrapped in a popsticker served with spicy soy ginger sauce.

Crab Wontons ($8) . These were probably my least favorite of the night. It was crab mixed with mascarpone cheese. I wasn't crazy about the combo.

Last but not least we had their Ahi burger ($8). Pretty good burger not the best I have had but it did the job. I can be very hard to please when it comes to burgers.
I WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE 3 OUT OF 4 NOM NOMS.
